Sector Education and Training Authorities

Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETA’s) are established to develop the skills of the South African community that is previously disadvantaged. There are a lot of service providers in the skills training and development, what we distinguish ourselves from others as Mmanape Private Technical College (MPTC) is our set up to be able educate our students in programmes that prepare them for absorption in skills training, consequently involving them in the mandate of the government through further SETA’s skills development. We have skills programs, learnerships and apprenticeships that we can conduct to serve the community with qualifications and skills. This allows us to be a player to tackle the challenges of poverty, inequality and unemployment.

Accreditations and Qualifications:

1. Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA)

Energy and water, the power and life. We are interested in the electrical impulse that powers cities and people’s dreams. We have been accredited with EWSETA since 2016. Students are equipped with skills that allow them to be involved in infrastructure projects and maintenance and refurbishments of those infrastructures in the energy sector. In the water sector, students are equipped with skills that involve upgrades of water infrastructure as the South African water infrastructure is aging. We are accredited with a renewable energy qualification that presents opportunities for projects in the Northern Cape as the green hub and also contributes to green footprint as it is a sustainable source of energy.Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETA’s) are established to develop the skills of the South African community that is previously disadvantaged. Sanitation Project Coordination

Water Purification Process

Students of this course will possess a comprehensive understanding of water purification techniques and technologies. They will be capable of designing, implementing, and maintaining water treatment systems to ensure the supply of clean and safe drinking water. Students will be prepared to address water quality challenges and contribute to the provision of sustainable and accessible water resources.

Electrical Engineering

Completing this program will be proficient in the principles and applications of electrical engineering. They will have the expertise to design, analyze, and optimize electrical systems, as well as develop innovative solutions for power generation, distribution, and utilization. Graduates will be well-prepared for careers in various industries, including electronics, power generation, telecommunications, and renewable energy.

2. Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA)

This SETA focuses it training at local government employees such as traditional leaders and ward councilors. This is important as state workers, should have skills to be able to provide service delivery to the community of South Africa. Promote and Coordinate skills development initiatives and strategic sectoral training interventions, to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the local government sector through: conducting sectoral skills planning and research

Local Economic Development

Upon completing this course, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the factors that influence economic development at the local level. They will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to analyze local economies, identify opportunities for growth, and develop strategies to promote economic development within a community. This program will be preparing one to work in local government, economic development agencies, where one can contribute to the prosperity and well-being of their communities.

Municipal Finance and Management Program (MFMP)

This course provides students with a deep understanding of the financial and managerial aspects of municipal governance. Students will be proficient in budgeting, financial reporting, revenue management, and strategic planning for local governments, will be well-prepared to pursue careers as municipal finance officers, budget analysts, or city managers, where they can play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective use of public resources for the benefit of the community.

Municipal Finance Management and Administration (MFMA)

Completing this course will assist you acquire a strong foundation in the principles and practices of municipal finance management and administration. They will develop expertise in areas such as public finance, fiscal policy, and administrative processes specific to local government. Graduates will be well-positioned to pursue careers as finance directors, city administrators, or financial consultants, where they can contribute to the financial health and operational efficiency of local municipalities.

3. Agricultural Sector Education and Training Authority(AGRISETA)

AgriSETA creates and promotes opportunities for social, economic and employment growth for agri-enterprises through relevant, quality and accessible education, training and development in both primary and secondary agriculture, in conjunction with other stakeholders in agriculture. The entity’s scope covers the agricultural sector, from input services and activities on farms to first level processing activities on farms.

Agri-Trade

Upon completing the Agri-Trade course, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of agricultural economics, marketing, and trade. They will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to effectively participate in agricultural trade, understand market dynamics, and make informed decisions regarding the buying and selling of agricultural products. Graduates can pursue careers in agricultural marketing, commodity trading, supply chain management, and agricultural finance.

Animal Production

Students of the Animal Production course will have a deep understanding of animal husbandry, nutrition, breeding, and health management. They will be prepared for careers in livestock farming, animal breeding, veterinary services, and animal nutrition. Additionally, they will be equipped to contribute to the sustainable and ethical production of animal products, as well as the management of animal welfare.

Plant Production

Students completing the Plant Production course will acquire expertise in crop cultivation, soil management, pest control, and sustainable agricultural practices. They will be prepared for careers in crop production, agronomy, agricultural consulting, and research and development in the field of plant science. You will be able to contribute to the development of sustainable and efficient agricultural systems to meet the global demand for food and bio-based products.

Mixed Farming Systems

Upon completion of the Mixed Farming Systems course, students will have a holistic understanding of integrated farming practices, combining crop production with animal husbandry. They will be prepared for careers as farm managers, agricultural consultants, and sustainable agriculture specialists. Students will be equipped to implement diversified and resilient farming systems that optimize resource use and promote environmental sustainability.

4. Media, Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority(MICTSETA)

The MICT sector is made up of five subsectors that are interconnected but also quite distinct and identifiable in their own right. These are: advertising, film and electronic media, electronics, information technology and telecommunications. The MICT SETA intends to engage in learning programmes and quality assurance of education and training of implemented learning initiatives, which lead to employment and new venture creation, while at the same time engaging in programmes that assist in bridging the digital divide, especially in rural areas. The MICT SETA plays a pivotal role in achieving South Africa's skills development and economic growth within the sub-sectors it operates namely; Advertising, Film and Electronic Media, Electronics, Information Technology and Telecommunications

End-user computing

Upon completing this course, students will have gained a comprehensive understanding of computer systems and software applications. They will be proficient in using various productivity tools such as word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Additionally, students will have developed the skills necessary to troubleshoot common computer issues and provide technical support to end-users within an organizational setting.

Systems Development

Students who complete this course will have acquired the knowledge and skills required to design, develop, and implement information systems and software applications. They will be proficient in programming languages, database management, and software engineering principles. Candidates will be well-equipped to analyze business requirements and develop custom software solutions to meet organizational needs.

Technical Support

Upon finishing this course, students will have gained expertise in providing technical assistance and support to users experiencing hardware, software, or network-related issues. They will have developed strong problem-solving and communication skills, enabling them to effectively troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. They will be prepared to work in roles such as help desk support, IT support specialist, or technical support analyst.

5. Services Sector Education and Training Authority(SSETA)

Our primary function is to facilitate skills development through learning programmes like learnerships, skills programmes, internships and other learning programmes. We do this by disbursing grants to employers and skills development providers to offer training to employed and unemployed learners

New Venture Creation

This course equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify, evaluate, and develop new business opportunities. Upon completion, students will be able to create comprehensive business plans, conduct market research, and understand the financial and legal aspects of starting a new venture. They will also be prepared to navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship, including securing funding and managing the early stages of a new business.
