National Certificate: Water and Wastewater Process Control (NQF Level 3)

For Process Control (Level 3), the qualification will provide learners with a basic knowledge and understanding of the water and wastewater treatment works. The qualifications will provide learners with the knowledge and skills in water and wastewater treatment operations, enabling the learner to participate as a member of a team, attending to the operation, maintenance of water and wastewater treatment works. This qualification is aimed to people who are expected to make decisions relating to the amount of chemicals dosed, volume of water treated and pumped. The qualification will provides learners with knowledge and skills to be able to lead a small team or group on a plant as well as to conduct administrative tasks in order to meet organizational objectives.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Use the system international (SI) and appropriate formulae to perform calculations needed to operate water and wastewater treatment plant.
  2. Perform water quality analysis and monitoring.
  3. Compare water and wastewater works performance with legislative and workplace requirements at an operational level.
  4. Interpret and apply legislation relevant to the operation of water and wastewater treatment works.
  5. Apply communication and leadership skills at the work environment..
  6. Demonstrate administration required on a wastewater treatment works.

Duration:

  1. 12 months/ 1 Year Qualification
  2. 6 Months Theory/ Contact Session/span>
  3. 6 Months practical’s/ Work place based

Entry Requirements:

  1. N1 Level: Passed Grade 9 & 10
  2. N2 Level: Passed Grade 10 & 11
  3. N3 level:
    1. National Certificate (Matric) or its equivalent qualification with a pass in the following subjects: English language level 3 (40% above) Pure Mathematics level 3 (40% above) Physical Science level 3 (40% above)
    2. Have passed N2
